Dear Ussal, my apologies for posting a comment in English. As you might remember, my Turkish does not go far beyond orta kahve... But thanks to Google translate, I am a faithful reader of Global Isler. As I am now living in Miami (after 11 years in San Francisco), I am excited that next year I might have a chance to hail a self-driving taxi. Though now that I know it uses ChatGPT technology I worry a bit about hallucinations...! The story about the Romania elections raises many fascinating questions. Media has been used since time immemorial to sway public opinion, and in this sense perhaps TikTok is not very different. A recent interview of Marc Andreessen on The Free Press discusses censorship trends in US social media over the last ten years. The global nature of modern technology makes it a lot harder to separate foreign actors from domestic actors. How do we decide what is legitimate intervention and what is not? One more reason why following the discussions on Global Isler remains so important!
